Take this, dad.
So, that hot guy I used to hook up with is now my husband, who is now a DAD. This gives Father’s Day a whole new meaning. Like I have to get him something. For Father’s Day. That’s weird.
He doesn’t own ties and has never worn one. Or cuff links. He wears tattoos as clothes and board shorts and flip-flops. He doesn’t like Things.
Still, I think he needs these Things for Father’s Day. Maybe?

Fashion photo of the week: NOT jelly bracelets
Terrified by the media-induced myth of children wearing “sex bracelets,” parents are letting their children sport a new, albeit almost exactly the same, fashion accessory: Silly Bandz.
Some media outlets, including this one, reported that children were wearing traditional 1980s-style jelly bracelets in different colors to symbolize, in some secret kid-code, the various sexual acts they were willing to do if said bracelet were “snapped” off their wrist.
Although local children gasped at the suggestion and ran away from the reporter yelling, “Stranger danger! Stranger danger!” many parents agreed the threat was still there and prohibited the bright bracelets.
Some smart entrepreneur realized the obvious gap in the youth fashion world and filled it with bright jelly bracelets — in the shape of animals, people and inanimate objects, such as home base.
Which is, incidentally, much more suggestive than the color red.
Still, Silly Bandz are the new big thing. Until some newspaper in New York starts calling Silly Bandz by a different name — hopefully not a name that improperly uses a “z” to try to sound clever.

Wondering how you can wear your body harness in public?

First, a disclaimer. I am not alone in my love of this new accessory trend. Here is proof it has hit the runway. (But then, what insanity hasn’t?).

$28
http://www.etsy.com/shop/peoplescouture
I especially like how the description of this body harness is written in an almost free-form poem style… or haiku?
because it is independent,
the harness has the ability to change
everything it touches,
takes any outfit to another level.
this unique idea for accessory was
invented by people’s couture in 2008
all rights reserved.
we are open to inquiries for licensing this idea
Here are some other body harness styles:
$65

$220, http://www.etsy.com/shop/peoplescouture
$124, http://www.etsy.com/shop/ashaloo
$175, http://www.etsy.com/shop/ashaloo

$94, http://www.etsy.com/shop/thisilk

$200
Or make it more hardcore:

$450, www.shrimptoncouture.com
Then there is the practical/functional yet still fashionable harness:

Marley Triple Strap Leather Harness Purse Belt in Green

Less sexy:
$34.98 on Amazon. Presumably for climbing.
Too sexy:
$89.99 on Amazon.com.
Wait, is there a such thing as too sexy?
Instead of full-fledged BDSM attire in public, how about this dominatrix-inspired “punk ballerina” couture harness:
www.shrimptoncouture.com. Unfortunately, it’s sold out, or I would be rocking it tomorrow.
Here is a similar version, in beige, but also sold out.

I get fooled by a cool photograph and almost buy a dress
Exhibit A:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/chrystalshop
Ooh, it’s just so elegant, old fashioned, quaint, French, interesting and hmm, I guess the dress is OK, too.
This is an example of how good photography and/or editing can make or break your online sales.
Exhibit B:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/HopelesslyDevoted
Ask yourself: What is for sale here? Little lamb statues? The bow in her hair? Or the image of entering a world where you can lovingly gaze at lamb statues and still look sexy as sin?
I don’t know, but I want the lambs.
Exhibit C:

The collar is pretty weird, but what effect is she using on Photoshop? I like, I like.
And then there are the fashion creations that no amount of hot models, creative scenes or Photoshop can help.

Your slutty accessory of the day
It wouldn’t be my fashion blog if there wasn’t something subtly slutty. You know, something work-appropriate… maybe.
Here’s my latest questionable accessory: the leather “love” cuff.

On an unrelated note, here is a California Raisin.

Peacock is the new parrot
Last summer, I noticed a proliferation of parrot paraphernalia on the runways and Red Carpet.
Weee, alliterations tickle me.
Anyhow.
It seems the new bird o’ season is the peacock. You can find peacock patterns on clothes from Forever 21 to this gorgeous dress on Etsy for lots of money.
