Aphrodite says go shopping
I am not one to argue with a goddess.
I am not sure what size Aphrodite wears, but it’s worth a shot. See info below:
LADIES! Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love and beauty, invites you to join us on Thursday, September 17th (4-8 p.m.) at the Dairy Center for the Performing Arts for an evening of economically- and environmentally-friendly shopping! There will be mountains of clean, gently used, head to toe fashion items to enhance your inner and outer beauty. Everything will be $5 or less!
This event is a fundraiser for the Path of the Ceremonial Arts (a 3-year training program in ancient feminine traditions and ceremonial skills with a strong commitment to spiritual self-exploration and service.) Please visit our website at http://www.pathoftheceremonialarts.org/
How to get free clothes: Contribute clean, gently used clothing and accessories to receive a coupon for a free item!
Cost: $10 admission, $5 for seniors and students. Wine and refreshments will be provided.

It really doesn’t get more beautiful than this: Indian style
I am writing a column for Friday about Indian fashion.
Here are some pictures I’ve run across while writing the story of Indian styles that make me weep in excitement. What beauty!

I also ran across an Indian style fashion police Web site that I found amusing:

Note to self: Shiny sarees are not cool. Wearing your belly chain low near your “nether regions” is so 1993.

Weird is the new sexy
I recently bought a weird dress from Urban Outfitters. When I first saw it, I thought it was hideous. Therefore, I bought it. And now it is growing on me. It is an Urban Renewal one-of-a-kind, so it’s not exactly like this, but similar:
But with different prints. It has a sort of animal print top and bottom and a dark brown middle chunk.
From the Web site: “Pieced together from various vintage knit fabrics, this one-of-a-kind tank dress is cut short with a scoopneck.”
This dress has me eyeing some other weird dress concoctions. Here are a few others at Urban that have caught my eye for their uniqueness.
1. Corset dress, $58.

2. Bandeau dress, $58.

3. Grommet tank dress, $29.99

4. Side slash dress, $29.99

All I want for-ever is this fringe necklace
Yes, made by the same Etsy person who came up with tie-dye leggings. I think she is my favorite of the week.
I love this necklace because it’s almost like an extra shirt. A shirt on a chain.
$59

Here is another pair of tights from iheartnorwegianwood (yes, that is her name – rad!) that I must have but will probably never be able to afford.

Blondes do NOT have more fun
Kat Von D dyed her hair blonde. I am embarrassed for her. She looks like any regular washed-up floozy. Yeah, I said floozy, what.

Props to The General’s Booty (www.thegeneralsbooty.blogspot.com) for the tip-off.
