Southern girls have more fun
I wish there any other acceptable place to wear huge hats other than the Kentucky Derby and southern Baptist chur When I am an old lady, I vow to wear derby hats every day to Perkins, because that’s where old people go. And Bingo.
Beautiful derby hats
In these first two pictures, I like the colors: Black and cream, with accents of yellow or red, make these hats more subtle, if that word could ever be used to describe anything Kentucky.

The beachy quality of this hat makes me think I could possibly get away with wearing it on vacation. To Copacabana, of course.

The oversized polka dots makes this hat unique.

At www.couturecreations.net.
Another from Couture Creations with a different shape, in the classic B&W: $315.

White! How gorgeous. I can’t wait until I am 90. I am all over this one.
$99 on eBay.

Questionable derby hats
The infamous red and purple… must be a Red Hat Lady.

Too much of a good thing is badbadbad.

This looks like a wildlife refuge living on her head. I wonder if her neck was sore that night.

And finally, I wonder how many garden gnomes live in and under this hat? Oh wait, I see one!

31 going on awesome
And I thought I had bad ideas! A friend of a friend is doing this “project” in Vegas right now: www.funwith31.com.
From her site:
So, here’s the scoop. I go on 31 dates in 31 days the final 31 days of my 31st year. The challenge is to keep the price under $31, surviving each other’s company for a minimum of 31 minutes, and have fun doing it. Afterwards, I’ll write about each date here and then my readers get two-thirds of the vote of who my second date will be with on my 32nd birthday, May 28th. I reserve the right to have the final third of that vote. {It’s my game…I can make up the rules!}

Not to mention she has great fashion sense. Love the necklace with the shirt.

As seen on Pearl Street: Is it a bird? A bat? A fairy?
Come, let us journey to the center of Middle Earth, aka the Pearl Street Mall.
I am sorry for the terrible quality of this photo but it was taken with my camera phone. I had to move swifty and then scurry away, for I could have been mauled or beaten or forced to frolic with this wild winged creature.
The curious black shapes near this woman’s shoulders are wings of some kind. Onward, dragon!

PS, Make sure you watch it past the first minute. That’s when it all goes crazy.
Yet another reason why I love dresses
If you are like me, you have a lot of gorgeous dresses for really no reason and you don’t have anywhere to wear them.
Here is a creative solution for what to do with them:

Take that, Strunk and White
I think I will write a new “Elements of Style” book….. it will involve five-period elipses, the newest summer scarves and a chapter on parentheses and pashminas.
Nothing says tough quite like tall bangs and choreographed slow kicks
Pompadours are generally funny. So is my friend, The General. The video she recently posted on her blog about pompadours made me smile the whole time: http://thegeneralsbooty.blogspot.com.
The General is my make-up queen. Also she could beat me up with one glare, so I like to be nice to her, and you should, too.
If the shoe fits
