I like to take pictures of typos on signs. But I never would have expected the worst, the mother of all typos, to come straight from a recycling bin in the Daily Camera’s newsroom.

Next time we have a typo in a headline, be glad it doesn’t read like this:

N @ardboaarr-? Aluminio?
And what is that little picture at the bottom? A recycling chicken?

Let’s play a little game. It’s called cool or not cool. You be the judge. Rank the following four scenes from one to four, with one being the coolest and four being the worst. I am sick of hearing my own opinion, so let’s hear yours. And anyway, I cannot decide which of these is the worst.
All of these are true, based on people I recently have spotted on the streets.

1. A very manly man walking two pitbulls. Manliness is evidenced by an exaggerated swagger and the fact that he is wearing head-to-toe camo. Except the shirt is a different color and pattern of camo than his pants.

2. Two women in the 50s to 60s walking their dog. Sort of. The dog is in a stroller. The dog is bouncing and barking, obviously active, so not handicapped.

3. Another very manly man. This one is wearing shorts sagged so low that they look like capris, and they actually land right below his butt cheeks in the back, exposing bright blue boxers. He is shirtless, but wearing a backpack, which is securely fastened across his chest and around his waist in case it… uh… in case something.

4. Three elementary-aged girls pulled something around town by three pieces of twine. Upon closer investigation, the object they are pulling is an infant tied to a skateboard.

Oh, where is your camera when you need it most?

Unlike the man at the motorcycle company who said I didn’t look like a “pink kind of gal,” my BFF knows me better.  She sent me a link to a dress that I must get. At none other than Charlotte Russe. And for only $19.99, I think I’ll get it in both colors. In honor of both my sweet and fiesty sides.

The frills and lace make this dress delicate and feminine. But the corset adds some edginess. Pair it with Docs, lace tights and a choker to make it edgy/punk. Put it with simple, sleek stilettos and a one-strand pearl necklace for fancy. Throw an oversized cardigan over top and slip on some bright, solid-print flats and you can wear it casual.

Bruz Wear, www.bruzwear.com, of Centennial, designs padded pants to protect your kids’ knees and bum.

Yay: The pants ($39 and up) encourage exploring, crawling and, well, just being a clumsy kid. Also great for children with hemophilia. Not to mention, the pants are super cute, with animal print and butterfly pads.

Hmm: Why didn’t they come up with these sooner (said while eyeing my scarred hamburger knees)?

Ambajam,
www.ambajam.com, of Denver, makes kid clothes and blankets that feature brightly colored animal appliques, $26. Find Ambajam designs at Poppy, 2098 Broadway St., in Boulder.

Yay: The appliqués hip up drab baby clothes, and can be reapplied on clothes as the child grows. The animals have crazy designs, textures and colors, with names like “tangerine orange” and “turquoise snow cone.”

Hmm: Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help but thing that these patterns look like something you’d want around if you popped a bag of magic mushrooms.
