Oh my goth!
I just found my new favorite pair of black faux leather pumps, from Charlotte Russe for only $25.

Except this picture doesn’t begin to show how fun they are. They have a buckle ankle strap and a buckle toe, which is peepy (here it looks closed, but it’s not). I really dig the tapering heel, which makes the shoes more sturdy than skinny stilettos and more feminine than wedges, while adding a sexy and different form to the shoe.

I wanna be a cowgirl
I bought this dress at Charlotte Russe this weekend.
I thought the red plaid felt a little hillbilly, perfect with a pair of worn-in tan boots. Which is what I’m rocking today, as I type this. I like the thick bow waist, halter top and the low-cut back.

Plus, it’s so comfortable that I feel like I’m riding, uh, bareback.
Only $28.99.

Monokini? Sounds like a disease
But alas, it is a trendy style of swimwear that I, too, am rocking this summer.
After promising up and down I’d never buy a swim suit at Target again — due to the embarrassing proliferation of said suits among middle schoolers at Water World — I did it again. I am a slow learner.
But the so-called monokini I bought was so cute - and cheap (about $30). It looks something like this, except with small black and white dots and red bow accents:

If you don’t want to dress like all of the 12-year-olds this summer, here is another Web site where you can get authentic retro swim suits:

My fave is the classic polka dot sheath (below). But for this unique look, you’re gonna have to pay twice as much.

A pedicure plus
I got a manicure/pedicure last night for my birthday.
I got it done at the nail’s place by Dick’s in the FlatIrons Mall.
Interesting little factoid about the experience. While I got my nails did, a Vietnamese man was in the tiny closet across from my chair singing opera loudly.
LOUDLY.
At first, I heard him singing and thought it was part of a remix to the hip-hop they were playing, which was incidentally a song about “it’s your birthday,” except not the 50 Cent version.
Then my nail practitioner had to open the closet door to retrieve a paper towel and I noticed a full-grown man crammed in there, wearing headphones and singing into a microphone to himself. He didn’t even turn around or stop singing when they opened the door.
Pedicure and manicure: $40
Tip: $5
New shoes to show off new pink polish: $25 (on sale)
Live entertainment while getting my feet scrubbed: You got it … Priceless.

These shoes, from none other than www.hotstrippershoes.com, are lined with studs and spikes.
What a bargain. For $57.99 you can get a new pair of hot stripper shoes and a weapon.
