As seen in Longmont: Eye am watching you from behind
Don’t be distracted by this very big dude in a chair. Note the back of the tattoo artist’s head. Do you think he knew I took this picture of him?

I didn’t see an eyeball on his leg, so I don’t think he saw me take this one. I liked his shoes. They made me happy.

As seen on Pearl Street: chin tattoo
This woman was traveling through Boulder, and I met her outside of Lolita’s on Pearl Street. She said the flowery tattoo on her chin didn’t hurt.

Anti-Britney style
Question: What do the following outfits have in common?
Tuxedo-style dress, $88, from www.shabbyapple.com.

Herringbone suit, $165, from www.funkyfrum.com.
www.sooncollection.com.
www.fabucci.com.
Answer: They all appear on links from The Modest List, www.themodestlist.com, a new Web site that tracks clothes that are fashionable, but classy.
And no, the concept of “modest style” is not an oxy moron. Check out the new fashion magazine, Eliza, www.elizamagazine.com.

Sex ed dropout
My friend, Jamie, is massively pregnant. Like she is harvesting a small continent in her uterus. And she just bought a “pro-choice” T-shirt.

Made me think of other interesting maternity shirts I’ve seen around (all from www.spoilmeinstyle.com).
His fault, $40

Sex ed dropout, $31

Contraception malfunction, $31

Colorado Barbie collection
I wish I wrote this, but I didn’t. It’s still amazing.
Our two local Barbies:
Nederland Barbie: This Barbie comes complete with real dreadlocks, hair under her arms and on her legs, and even a certain musky fragrance. Her nose, tongue and nipples are already pierced. Includes hemp handbag and assortment of roach clips and bongs. 1969 VW microbus sold separately.
Boulder Barbie: This doll is made of actual tofu. She has long straight brown hair, archless feet, hairy armpits, no makeup and Birkenstocks with white socks. She prefers that you call her ”
Willow.” She does not want or need a Ken doll, but you if purchase two
Boulder Barbies and the optional Subaru wagon, you get a rainbow flag sticker for free.

Birds of a feather
Poor Bjork. Everyone made so much fun of her swan suit, which she wore to the Oscars in 2001.

But high fashion, fall 2007, proves our little Icelandic pixie was just ahead of the time.
As seen on Style.com:
A knock-off of Bjork’s dress, minus the beak.
Actually worse than Bjork’s dress. Comes with very own nest.
Although you may not believe it, these photos are in no way doctored to prove my point or my love for Bjork.
I wonder if this dress tickles.
Which means now is a good time to buy your very own Bjork-inspired rainbow doilie dress, expected to be on the runsways in 2011.

Here is a sneak peak of what’s to come:

It’s raining fashion

New Rainboots
Originally uploaded by NikiNine
I woke up this morning to what would qualify as a torrential downpour, at least by Colorado standards (which indicates it lasted for more than 8 seconds).
So obviously, I had to drag out the ol’ rain boots.
It’s a shame to live in Colorado with so many cute rain books out there.
Here are a few that have stolen my heart. If you’re feeling silly:
$10.49 from Target. If you’re feeling classic, yet trendy (if that’s not an oxy moron):

$34 from Urban Outfitters . If you’re going to be taking the bus to work:

About 6 Pounds (the currency, not weight), www.funky-wellington-boots.co.uk. If you want to add to color to the dreary weather and/or match my living room:
$49.95 from www.zappos.com.
And finally, my favorite pair. Wedge rain boots with bows. If you wear a size 6 and want to be my best friend:
$73.95, www.zappos.com.

Inked up, take two
All of that chatter (below) about tattoos has got me obsessed.
It is this same hunger that fuels people to get more and more and more tats until they actually bleed ink.
I know a girl who just got a tattoo inside her inner lip, like this:

To prevent any further bad choices like that, here are some alternatives for your inspiration.

Oh wait… I guess there are some people who don’t want a poodle tattooed on them. Here are other ideas.
